Torrified wheat is a pre-gelatinized unmalted brewers wheat that can be used as a cereal grain/adjunct in the mash, and can replace malted wheat if you desire. Increases body and head retention, as well as adding a very slight toasted flavor. Excellent for Hazy IPA’s.
Wheat adds a distinctive wheat flavor to your beer and increases head retention and haze. It is low in tannins but high in protein content. Using flaked wheat will increase your beer’s body, smoothness, and head formation and retention. It is excellent for hazy IPA’s and you can use it to make Belgian and French ales, specialty beers and wheat beers.
We recommend using Rice Hulls if this is over 15% of your grain bill to avoid a stuck mash. Horrified wheat is pre-gelatinized and does not require milling. If unconvinced, you can mill along with your other grains.
