Breeding/Development: Germany. A daughter of Cascade released in 2012 and bred specifically to answer the needs of American craft beer styles.
Brewing Application: Aroma, particularly whirlpool and dry hopping to take full advantage of the very high myrcene fraction. With its pronounced tropical profile, Hallertau Blanc has strong affinity for many of the same styles as southern hemisphere hops: IPA, Belgian ales, wheat beer, and Brett fermentations. All hops are packaged in oxygen, light and moisture barrier bags.
The Hop Research Center Hüll (Hopfenforschungszentrum Hüll) is a research institution focusing on advances in hop breeding, hop harvesting, and hop chemistry. It is located in the Hallertau, the largest continuous hop-planting area in the world, in the German state of Bavaria. The institute is run by the German Hop Research Society (Deutsche Gesellschaft für Hopfenforschung) and the Bavarian state.
