Description
Also for use as an inert carrier or anti-caking agent in grain and animal feeds. an ideal blending agent in animal feed to eliminate clumping, especially in bulk storage and transfer applications. DE filtration has a higher dirt holding capacity than other forms of filtration and a larger area of media compared to, for example, cellulose-based sheet filters. Using sheet filters the flow rate will start high but drop off. However with an earth filter it remains constant and it is possible to get relatively high flow rates.
- Made of fossilized remains of diatoms (single-cell aquatic algae) deposited on the bottoms of oceans and lakes during the Miocene Age.
- Comprised of silica with unique cylindrical shape, high porosity, and low resistance to flow
- Forms highly permeable but rigid and incompressible filter cakes ideal for efficient and cost-effective filtrations.
- Two-step application; first added as a protective layer (pre-coat), and then to maintain porosity (body-feed in pressure filters).
