8OZ HOPS NORTHERN BREWER (DE) German Dual Purpose Hop Pellets

$9.95

Versatile and mild with a distinct hoppy flavor, German Northern Brewer is a true dual purpose hop.  Northern Brewer hops offer a crisp moderately bitter flavor.  They are a traditional bittering hop with pine and mint characteristics.  It is the only hop in Anchor Steam beer, where it is used for both bittering and flavor/aroma. Many, many recipes call for using Northern Brewer as a bittering hop. We find using 1 ounce when brewing five gallons provides a nice generic bitterness for a variety of beer styles.   Found most often in  Lambic, Porter, California Common, European Ales, Heavier German-style Lagers, and Stouts

Northern Brewer is a well known dual purpose hop developed by Professor E. S. Salmon at Wye College around 1934 a cross between a old Canterbury Golding and a Brewer’s Gold male. It is currently grown in several countries around the world, especially in Germany.  The German is considered the premier terroir for Northern Brewer.
