Description
Aglica corks are a high quality “TECHNICAL CORK”. These are a treated micro-granular aggregate closure that provides a great seal at a low price utilizing environmentally sound manufacturing processes. The Aglica granules are sterilized to virtually eliminate any source of the bacterial infection TCA (2,4,6-trichloroanisole) which causes ‘off’ or ‘mousey’ odors in corked wine.
These are straight champfered WINERY-GRADE corks that elongate to 1 3/4″ when inserted. You will need a Portuguese double lever corker or any floor corker to insert them and they fit a standard cork-finish wine bottle tightly. These corks are fine for wines that are going to be consumed within 2 to 4 years. The manufacturer’s intended warranty level may be somewhat longer.
The leakage, evaporation, crumbling, and cork dust you get from natural corks is virtually eliminated. You don’t heat nor boil these corks. They are already sanitized and prelubricated. Simply keep them sealed in their bag until you start your normal bottling process. Keep your hands and the throat of your corker clean. These corks are champfered (slanted) on both business ends for easy insertion. They make an appealing “SQUEAK-POP!” when they are pulled from the bottle and work just like natural cork without the problems.
