MOSAIC CRYO HOPS Lupulin Hop Pellets 1oz – Triple Purpose Bittering, Flavor, and Aroma

Mosaic (HBC 369) is a US born and bred hop known for its pronounced complexity in aroma and flavor.  Strong impressions of citrus oil, balsam pine, blueberry, peach and mango tropical fruit.  Notable mango character, but also shades of lime and mandarin orange.  Hence the name ‘Mosaic’.  This is a Triple Purpose hop used for bittering, flavor, and aroma.  Found in pale ale, IPA and Stout.  A daughter of Simcoe and a Nugget-derived male, it is sometimes called a ‘Super Citra’.  LupuLN2® Cryo Hops® represent the most innovative hop product technology available.  You will get less of the “grassy” notes because the oils are concentrated and much of the weedy material has been removed

MOSAIC:   Triple purpose hop.  A complex array of tropical fruit, citrus, berry, herbal, earthy and pine characteristics. Typical Alpha Acids 11.5 – 13.5%, Beta Acids 3.2 – 3.9%.  Daughter of Simcoe®, Released in 2012 by the Hop Breeding Company LLC.

Breeding/Development: USA. Known as HBC 369 until its release in 2012, Mosaic® is a new variety from the Hop Breeding Company, LLC. It is a daughter of Simcoe and a Nugget-derived male.

Brewing Application: Mosaic® is often compared to an amplified Citra®, with which it shares a respectable alpha content but a highly-desired oil profile as well. This unique oil profile makes it most commonly used for flavor and aroma. Its exotic, fruit-laden bouquet lends itself well to American-style IPAs, saisons, wheats, and Brettanomyces-fermented beers.

These hops are packaged near the farm by a coop owned by the farmers, YCHHOPS® a company formed from the merger of Yakima Chief and Hop Union.   This is currently one of the “IT” hops for the US Market.   These are professionally packed hops in a nitrogen flushed light and oxygen barrier foil pack and they will remain usable for a long time.
WHERE TO TRY THEM:   Simcoe is noticeably present in Dogfish Head’s 60 and 90 Minute IPAs. New Belgium’s Ranger uses it alongside Cascade and Chinook, and Pennsylvania’s Weyerbacher Brewing Company makes a fabulous IPA called Double Simcoe.

YCH HOPS is a grower-owned global hop supplier focused on providing the highest quality hops and brewing solutions to brewers of all sizes.  Powder and pellets are produced from whole leaf hops using YCH HOPS’ proprietary cryogenic separation process that preserves all components of each fraction. Cryo Hops are the concentrated lupulin of whole hop cones, providing variety-specific, enhanced aroma and flavors as well as increased efficiency and yield.  Perfect for hoppy ales!

LupuLN2™ hop powder and pellets are produced from whole leaf hops using YCH HOPS’ proprietary cryogenic separation process that preserves all components of each fraction.  Utilizing industry leading, cryogenic processing, whole-leaf hops are separated into lupulin and bract at extremely low temperatures to preserve oils and resins and get rid of the vegetable matter.

LupuLN2 is purified lupulin powder containing most of the resin compounds and aromatic oils derived directly from whole hop flowers. It is ideal for use in the whirlpool or fermenter for imparting intense hop flavor and aroma with minimal vegetal flavor and improved yield. Used in combination with Resinate® CO2 extract, LupuLN2 can add hop aroma and flavor to the end of boil or in dry hopping for a twofold approach to achieving superior brewery efficiency without sacrificing flavor. Depending on how much pellet or whole leaf is replaced by either of these products, breweries may see significant improvements in beer yield which contribute to both the bottom line and sustainability mission of YCH and many of our customers.

APPLICATION AND USAGE:  LupuLN2 may be used anywhere pellet hops can be used and are best used for late kettle and dry hop additions. As a starting point for recipe formulation or modification dose rate is estimated at 50% of pellets by weight. It is best used in beers defined by their hop flavor and aroma with hop loads of at least 1 lb/bbl in late kettle or dry hop additions where a larger yield increase will occur from substituting out pellets or whole leaf.
