BRIESS MALTING: (Pronounced ‘breeze’) Has been in business for over 140 years. The Briess malting tradition began in Moravia, Czechoslovakia in 1876. Ignatius Briess was a grain trader and recognized the high quality of Moravian malt. He and his cousin Wilhelm Briess began advertising their “Prima-Malz” for export. Between the world wars the Briess family migrated to the United States and began producing the same high quality grain products. The company is proud to remain privately owned, with the fourth and fifth generations of the Briess family actively involved in managing the business.
