Generally the two different alcohol finings Chitosan and Kieselsol are used together as a DOUBLE WHAMMY on particles. They will turn almost any cloudy or opaque alcoholic beverage into a beautifully transparent one that you can shine a light through in just a couple days. The combination of of Kieselsol and Chitosan liquid clearing agents packs a ONE-TWO PUNCH combination . One ounce of each is sufficient to clear a 5-8 gallon batch of wine or shine in two days. Use Kiesesol first, Wait 1 hour and then add the Chitosan. You will receive one liter of each component, a total of 2 liters! Now comes in more durable blue 1 Liter bottles.
Kieselsol is added first to the wine and after an hour the Chitosan is added. This combination is especially effective on white wines.
The fining porocess works by creating both strong negative and strong positive charges in the wine, which allow for larger yeast clumps and faster clearing.
Directions: When fermentation is complete, rack wine off existing sediment. For a 5-8 Gallon batch Add 1oz (a shot) Kieselsol to carboy and gently stir. May not clear pectin haze or products made with hard water.
