10LB Weyermann CARAFOAM Malt from Germany – A specialty malt from Weyermann that adds body foam retention and beer stability

$17.50

Weyermann® CARAFOAM® is a drum-roasted caramel malt made from two-row, German barley which is especially successful when used to aid in creating better foam improvement, improved head retention and a fuller body.  Suitable for all styles where these characteristics are desired.  Made from the finest German quality brewing barley. Due to our special malting process, this malt is characterized by a high proportion of dextrins and high molecular weight proteins. This makes CARAFOAM® ideal for improving foam and its stability as well as adding body to any beer. Due to the light malt color, CARAFOAM® can be used universally from the brightest to darkest beer styles.

Weyermann® began the production of high-quality malts and malt derived products in Bamberg over 140 years ago. Nowadays Weyermann® Specialty Malts is the world market leader in the manufacturing of caramel- and roasting malts with a portfolio of over 90 different products. Weyermann® Specialty Malts influence the colour and taste of more than 60,000 beers in 135 countries on all continents.  The red and yellow Weyermann® logo has become an epitome of excellent malt produced in Germany, for both brewers and beer connoisseurs all over the world.

Famous for roasted malts, the Weyermann family traces its roots back to 1510 and has been in the grain business since 1871. The trademarks Carapils® and Caramünch® were registered around 1908. During WW2 the Potsdam portion of Weyermann was destroyed by bombs and the subsequent Russian occupation. All their East German business was lost as well as their equipment. All the Weyermann family survived the war except one brother lost on the Eastern Front. After the war, Rudolf and Carl Weyermann in West Germany were suspended from the Company due to de-Nazification. Today, Weyermann is a team of 240 highly motivated and well-trained staff members who ensure that you will always receive nothing but true Weyermann quality. Sixty staff members hold diplomas or advanced degrees as professional brewers, maltsters, brew masters or brew engineers. Weyermann produces over 80 different types of malts that are distributed to 135 different countries.

The 140-year-old malt house of Weyermann® Specialty Malts is a protected historic site. But behind the red-brick turn-of-the-century exterior lies the modernized heart of the world ́s leading manufacturer of specialty brewing malts. Presided over by Sabine Weyermann, a fourth-generation member of the founding family, and her husband, Thomas Kraus-Weyermann, the company benefits as much from its roots in the past as it does from its modern malting practices.

Weyermann® offers the world’s largest malt portfolio, produced entirely in-house, and has become the leading malt supplier to the worldwide craft brew industry. We have been serving the American craft brew industry since 1994 and are now by far the largest supplier of European malt to the United States! Weyermann® Specialty Malts are also the freshest European malts available in the U.S. market, due to the high constant number of containers that are being shipped to the U.S. every day from Bamberg.
