STANDARD CARBOY CAP ORANGE NEW TYPE FITS ALMOST ALL 3-5-6 GALLON PLASTIC and GLASS

Description

A Universal Carboy Cap seals good stuff in and keeps bad stuff out of your secondary fermenters.  Safe for incidental food contact with any type of undistilled homebrew.  Fits all standard 3, 5 and 6 gallon glass, generic PET plastic, AND Better Bottle carboys.

These caps are so convenient and easy to use. You just push them on.  Keeps a good tight seal by sealing on the outside unlike a bung which seals on the inside.

Handy to slap a spare on a carboy before moving – any sloshes are easily cleaned up and you don’t risk getting sulphited airlock water in your brew.  Handy as a dust and bug cover while carboy is empty in storage.

To use the Carboy Cap: Push the cap down on to the carboy mouth.  Voila!   The center nipple has a hole to hold a ~3/8 OD tube securely and the side hole fits a ~1/4″ OD tube.

We don’t recommend racking through any type of carboy cap, cork, or closure.  If your racking cane  has a tip, you will have to remove the cap anyway to insert the cane and replace the cane tip.  Second you might jostle your homebrew while working the cane through the closure which is bad since the whole point is to rack the clear wine off the sediment at the bottom and the more you jiggle the more sediment is shaken back into solution.  It is much easier just to take the closure off, insert your racking cane at an angle, allow the hose to relax, and gently secure the cane with a clean washcloth stuffed part way into the mouth.  Then put a carboy wedge under the bottom of the carboy on the opposite side of the racking cane tip and commence your siphon.

 

Widely used for a blow-off tube when fermenting. Attach a length of flexible plastic tubing to either nipple and run the tubing down into a bucket of water. When used this way the carboy cap takes the place of the airlock and if it foams over it will be caught cleanly in the bucket.  Works well with homebrew gravity filters and filters that use low pressure air from an aquarium pump or sprayer pump body. The cap will expand to release if the pressure gets too high.  Do not use a clamp the Universal Cap must be able to vent itself to protect your carboy.  In stock and ready to ship.
