For winemaking purposes, Fusti tanks can be used as settling tanks, blending tanks, or for racking out of barrels. When used in place of carboys, they have the benefit of a larger volume capacity, easier cleaning, no risk of breakage, no stoppers popping out, and no need for siphoning when used with the optional stainless valve which WE INCLUDE.

The Sansone Europa model Fusti tank is made from 304 stainless steel with a mirror polish finish and welded handles. La Nuova Sansone has been making high-quality stainless steel containers in Italy for over 40 years, building an award-winning reputation for exceptional design and quality. The Europa model is not intended for use with water and in some conditions, water may cause minor rust spots inside the tank.  This can be removed with Comet or Barkeeps Friend kitchen cleansers.  It is best to rinse and dry and inspect the Fusti periodically.  Intended for oils, wine, beer, fermenting, etc.

Pickling:  Specialized acids are used to remove any surface impurities, scale, rust, and weld heat-tinted layers. This crucial step eliminates potential corrosion initiation points and ensures a uniformly clean and reactive surface.  Furthermore, pickling promotes the formation of a passive chromium oxide layer, an invisible shield that protects the stainless steel from oxidation and enhances its inherent corrosion resistance.

Polishing:  The pickling process is followed by a thorough polishing treatment. This creates an exceptionally smooth surface finish, minimizing microscopic imperfections where moisture and contaminants could become trapped and initiate corrosion. Polishing also refines the passive layer, making it denser and more uniform for superior protection. BSPP Connections:  BSPP (British Standard Parallel Pipe) is most popular in the UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa. It is a parallel thread fitting that uses a bonded seal ring to do the sealing. This bonded ring seal is sandwiched in-between a shoulder on the male fitting and the face of the female fitting and is squeezed in place. BSPP pressure gauges have a longer male thread and use a copper crush washer that is squeezed in between the bottom of the male fitting and the bottom of the female BSPP hole forming a pressure tight seal. No thread sealant is needed to form a seal.
