Description

One of the easiest beer ingredient kits there is! Perfect for beginning brewers – does not require specialized equipment. No wort chiller needed, you just bring 2.2lb sugar to the boil in a gallon of boiling water, kill the heat, and stir until clear.  Add the can of malt then cut it with cold water and ferment!  Yeast and instructions are under the lid.  All you need  is water! (Sugar addition may be required).  Kit may be tweaked by adding spices or additional malt for a higher ABV.  Can be made as a 5 gallon kit

CHARACTERISTICS and SPECIFICATIONS:

  • You get a roasted, bold, and smoky porter with coffee flavor and mild bitterness.  Surprisingly sweet finish.
  • Porters originated back in 1722 and get their name from London street and river porters who took a likening to the bold flavours.
  • Brewing Volume 5 gal L: 20 / 40 pints (31 English Pints) Makes 55 12oz bottles ABV approx. (% vol.): 5%, Color:  Dark Brown
  • One of the simplest kits to make, requires very little equipment and the result is a consistent and rewarding pint
  • Requires 2.2lbs (1kg) of Dark Spraymalt (recommended. Sugar may also be used).

INSTRUCTIONS:  Put 2.2lb sugar In your primary fermenter bucket and mix it with 4 pints of boiling hot water.  Add the contents of the can and mix it in.  You may rinse the can into the wort with additional hot water.  Add cold water to reach 40 pints, and check that temp is between  degrees 65-75°f, and sprinkle introduce the special brewing yeast from the sachet provided.  Allow the wort to ferment for approximately one week until fermentation ceases. Then, add priming sugar and transfer the brew into bottles or a pressure barrel, allowing it to mature for around ten days.

Once again the Muntons Premium range is made entirley from 100% hopped malt extract with no inferior or cheap adjuncts such as barley syrup. There is one notable exception to this however – the American Style Light Beer. To emulate the light delicate character of this popular beer style it was necessary to include in the kit a percentage of liquid sugar. This is the only beer kit in the extensive Muntons ranges made from anything other than 100% hopped malt extract.

The Muntons Connoisseurs Range has been formulated to brew strong beers emulating beer styles from around the world. Each Beer kit contains 1.8kg of 100% hopped malt extract – and in common with all Muntons beer kits, no cheap barley syrup is used in their manufacture. With the Connoisseurs range you will be able to experience taste sensations including Wheat Beer modelled on the best German Weizen style beers, Bock – the distinctive dark lager of Bavaria, Export Stout – a classic full-bodied hoppy stout and a wide range of other style beers.
