Delta (Hopsteiner 04188) is a one of the newer American-bred aroma varieties. Delta is similar to Willamette but with a kick. Delta has a slightly spicy aroma that is mild and pleasant with hints of ginger, citrus and melon. An alpha acid range of about 5.5% to 7% lets the Delta hop be utilized as a bittering agent in brews like ESBs and American IPAs. Nice in a single-hopped American IPA try 3-4 ounces. Developed by the Hopsteiner Breeding Program and released in 2009, it is a cross between the English-style Fuggle and a male variety derived from Cascade.

DELTA: This is a relatively new proprietary hop unavailable from the usual sources. It is in high demand for a luxurious aroma and substantial bittering quality. The growers like it because it shows good tolerance to downy mildew, good storage stability, and early harvest. Some of Steiner’s other patented releases are Apollo, Bravo, Calypso, Delta, Eureka, and Super Galena.
