HOBBY HOMEBREW is a good place to get your honey – We carry several brands and sizes. When available we offer Buckwheat, Wildflower, Organic Wildflower, Clover, Orange Blossom, Alfalfa, and occasionally small lots of Local Wildflower from beekeepers in the Southern Illinois area. These honeys all have very different taste and colors. Darker honeys have more antioxidants and nutritional benefits than lighter honeys, but all honeys are healthy and nutritious sweeteners.
Our Organic honey is USDA Certified by C.P.S. and all our commercially packaged honeys are either TrueSource or will be produced by members of the ABF or AHBA.
These honeys have been extracted, well strained, and commercially filled but not filtered or heated – they are pure natural honey with no added ingredients. Some of these honeys contain small amounts of pollen and wax that eventually make their way to the top of the containers. Honey will keep a very long time. It is an excellent addition to your survival stores because it does not ‘expire’ and if it crystalizes simply heat it gently to hot summer hive temp and it will liquefy again. Several of our honeys are Orthodox Union Kosher with the ‘Circle U P’ Pareve marking, but the local honeys are not. Our Local Honeys are generally processed by the beekeeper and small operations do not invest in certifications.
The potential health benefits of honey are many due to its nutrient rich content and anti-microbial properties. Our honeys are sourced from processors who place value on maintaining natural enzymes, amino acids, vitamins, and minerals. You will find the texture, flavor and color of our honeys nutritious and sustaining.
