CELEIA (STYRIAN GOLDING) Hops 1oz Dual Purpose Zesty Tangerine for ALE IPA NEIPA Tropicals

$3.00

Pleasant & hoppy, similar to traditional European varieties.  A mild noble spice character with citrus and sweet earthy edge.  Some say these are Fuggles grown in the Slovenia.  Others say it is European Union naming conventions.  It is unknown if this is a mixture or contains any Bobek or Savinjski.  Available in LDC, BSG and Artisan packaging.  We may substitute brand without notice.  Call if you have a preference. We’re not taking sides, bring us a bottle!

Description

Breeding/Development: Slovenia. Imported from England in the 1930s and thought to be a Golding, the ancestor of today’s Styrian Golding Celeia was actually a Fuggle. Acclimating to its new home, this variety has developed a more delicate, “continental” profile than English-grown Fuggle hops.

Sensory: Invitingly earthy and resinous as befits its Fuggle background, but with a more refined and restrained nature. When used in a hopback or as a dry hop, look for heightened floral and sweet spice.

Brewing Application: Primarily aroma and dry hopping due to its potent aroma and flavor, but high enough alpha acids to contribute good bitterness. Excellent as a single hop or part of a blend for Lager, English Ale, IPA, Bitters pale ale, and hop-forward American wheat beers.

  • Pedigree: For years thought to be a Golding, actually a Fuggle
  • Aroma/Flavor: Pleasant, hoppy, earthy
  • Alpha Acids: 3-6% Beta: 2-3.3%
  • Cohumulone: 18-23% of alpha acids
  • Substitutes Styrian Bobek hops or Saaz.
